Waybill 101: sending goods across Nigeria
Parks, prices, packaging and what to do when goods delay. A practical guide for vendors outside Lagos.

Most wholesalers in Lagos and Aba send to vendors nationwide by waybill: they take your package to a motor park and it travels on a passenger bus to your city.
How it works
- You pay the wholesaler for the goods.
- They package and take it to the park for your route.
- The park gives a waybill slip with a number and the driver's phone.
- You pick up at the destination park, or pay a dispatch rider to bring it.
Typical costs (2026)
- Lagos to Ibadan / Abeokuta: ₦3,000 – ₦5,000
- Lagos to Abuja / Port Harcourt: ₦6,000 – ₦10,000
- Lagos to Kano / Maiduguri: ₦9,000 – ₦15,000
Bigger or heavier packages cost more. Agree who pays before the goods leave.
Protect yourself
- Ask for a photo of the packed goods and the waybill slip.
- Save the driver's number and the park's office number.
- Track progress with the driver, not just the wholesaler.
Plug cards say "Waybill nationwide" when the wholesaler sends out of state.
